Are You Ready to Break Barriers to Employment?

I’m excited to announce that Cares of Washington has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Our goal with joining is to raise $7,500 to increase our capacity to break the barriers to employment for people with disabilities and low income in the Puget Sound region. Occurring this year on November 28, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the US) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.

For the past 14 years, Cares of Washington has been working hard to connect some of Puget Sound’s most vulnerable populations to jobs that move them forward in their quest for greater independence and self-sufficiency. However, now more than ever, we need to increase our capacity. With housing prices increasing in the urban areas we serve and transportation becoming more sparse in the rural areas, there are many barriers to employment that our clients face. We will use the money to provide individual coaching to help our clients gain needed job skills, improve their money management and budgeting prowess, access affordable housing and transportation, find child care that accommodates their working hours. We do whatever is needed to help our clients succeed on the job and in the community. But we need your help to make this campaign successful!
