Cares Of WA is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We will not sell, trade, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement. Cares Of WA collects information from our users at several different points in our site.

ONLINE DONATIONS

We request information from the donor on our donation form. Here a donor must provide contact information (such as name and billing address) and financial information (such as credit card number, expiration date). Cares Of WA does not store, nor does it have access to, your credit card information, bank account numbers, or other account data sent to the credit card processing company.

Cares Of WA collects donor contact information for the following purposes:

  • To distribute receipts for donations
  • To thank donors for their donations
  • To inform donors about upcoming events and activities of Cares Of WA, or events and activities benefitting Cares Of WA
  • For internal analysis and record keeping
  • To report to relevant U.S. and State agencies (these reports are not for public inspection)
  • To contact donors about changes to this policy
  • To contact donors if we have difficulty processing a request

Limited donor information may be used for promotional and fundraising activities. Cares Of WA provides donors the option to have their name publicly associated with their donation or to remain anonymous (donors must specifically request to have an anonymous donation).

LOG FILES

We use Google Analytics to optimize our website. This does not require our site visitors to identify themselves, and they do not provide us any personally identifiable information about our visitors that is not supplied voluntarily. We use IP [Internet Provider] addresses to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.

SHARING

We use an accredited online payment processing service with world-class security and data privacy policies to bill users for donations. This company does not retain, share, store or use personally-identifiable information for any secondary purposes. We do not trade, sell or rent donor or volunteer lists to other organizations.

LINKS

This web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that Cares Of WA is not responsible for the privacy practices of these sites. We encourage our donors to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every web site that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by www.CaresOfWA.org

SECURITY

This website takes every precaution to protect our donors' personal information.

When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and off-line. To protect the security of the information you give us when you donate online, either through our donation catalog or our "Donate Now" page, the Cares Of WA site uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. While on a secure page, such as our order form, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Firefox becomes locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open, when you are just 'surfing'. To learn more about SSL, follow this link http://www.symantec.com. Cares Of WA also protects user-information off-line.

All of our users' information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our donation processor) are granted access to personally identifiable information. Employees are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices. Finally, the servers on which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment behind a locked door. If you have any questions about the security on our website or at Cares Of WA, you can send an email to info@CaresOfWA.org.

CORRECTION/UPDATING PERSONAL INFORMATION

If a donor's personally identifiable information changes (such as your zip code), or if a donor no longer desires to be in our active solicitation, we provide a way to correct, update or remove that user's personal data provided to us. To modify your email newsletter information, please email info@CaresOfWA.org with the changes you'd like to make.

To change any of your postal information, please contact Cares Of WA directly at (206) 938- 1253.

CHOICE/OPT-OUT

Our donors are given the opportunity to 'opt-out' of having their information used for purposes not directly related to our site at the point where we ask for the information. Users who no longer wish to receive our E-News or Blog updates may opt-out of receiving these communications by choosing "unsubscribe" found at the bottom of the E-Newsletter and Blog e-mails.

NOTIFICATION OF CHANGES

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on our Homepage so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we may disclose it. We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.
