Mission:

CARES of Washington provides opportunities for people in the Puget Sound region to achieve and sustain their full employment potential. CARES specializes in providing individualized and long-term support for people with disabilities.

Who Benefits:

We annually assist several hundred individuals with disabilities to prepare for, locate and secure employment. Services to participants and employers include: assessment of abilities and interests, job readiness training, job development, job modification, job training, job placement, career advancement, asset development, self-sufficiency and job retention services.

We Change Communities One Person At A Time:

CARES staff work to create a network of support which helps people with disabilities achieve their employment and community participation goals. Participants involved in volunteer and employment settings build life-long connections to the people they meet. They benefit from increased self-sufficiency, an improved quality of life. The community benefits from the diversity of talents, ideas and perspective, which our participants offer. Employers gain valuable employees who contribute to the success of their business. Everyone benefits from the strength of the friendships and mutual support that develops from these connections.

Quality Of Service:

We are proud to announce that CARES of Washington earned a second three year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) in May 2008.The accreditation runs through 2011. This highest possible level of accreditation followed an in-depth review of all employment program services,. It is an endorsement that our services conform to national and internationally recognized service standards.

The CARF reported noted that CARES has “many dedicated, hardworking employees who have a strong commitment to improving the quality of life for the persons served. The staff of CARES of Washington demonstrates a steadfast and genuine concern and respect for the rights and dignity of the persons served and is responsive to their needs.” During 2005, all quality assurance and program audits by individual funders had positive outcomes.
