  • CARES Self-sufficiency Program (CSP) — funded by King County United Way and the Boeing Employees Community Fund

    Assists adults to achieve stable employment and financial self-sufficiency through planning and personal development. Services include financial literacy training, career counseling, and resource development to overcome a wide range of barriers to achieving long-term employment.

  • The Advancement Project (TAP) — King County — funded by Seattle—King County Workforce Development Council (WDC)

    Assists adults who are employed but earning less than $12 an hour to achieve financial self-sufficiency. Services are provided in partnership with WA State DSHS. This program provides intensive employment, job retention, career counseling and training services.

  • Supported Employment Program — King, Kitsap and Pierce Counties — funded by the Division of Developmental Disabilities

    Must have a developmental disability, be 21 or older and enrolled with the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD).

    People can also purchase services through a PASS plan or pay privately for services.

    Independent Employment (IE) participants (21 or older) receive job placement and long-term job retention services, job coaching and accommodation consultation as needed. Prior to employment staff will to identify areas of interest, skills an abilities. After the start of employment CARES case managers remain available to support both the employer and the new employee with long-term follow-up. They work together to identify natural supports within the workplace and the community, and to reduce barriers to employment.

    Person to Person participants (21 or older) receive guidance in developing a Pathway to Employment plan and monthly contact to complete planned goals. Goals are unique to the person, and may include development of positive worker characteristics, opportunities to learn more about what they have to offer an employer or providing employment related experiences. Staff may also work with the participant to secure volunteer employment sites.

  • School-to-Work Program — King County — funded by King County Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD)

    This program assists students who have developmental disabilities and are transitioning from school to work. Participants develop realistic vocational goals through vocational counseling and assessment. They are also have assistance to secure and maintain employment and create and implement a plan for long-term employment support.

  • Community Access Program — Kitsap and Pierce Counties funded by the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD)

    Community Access participants (62 or older) are assisted in increasing community integration by participation in self-chosen activities. Participants are provided with assistance in learning about community and agency sponsored activity options. Services are delivered one-to-one or in small group settings.

  • Division of Vocational Rehabilitation

    This program provides individualized services to participants eligible for employment-related services through DVR fee for service contracts. This program includes providing work-based assessments, job placement and retention and job coaching. Referral to CARES is made by your DVR counselor.
