Contract Services
CARES of Washington is dedicated to helping people with disabilities who want to work but experience substantial barriers finding and keeping employment. CARES and the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) work together to aid individuals with disabilities overcome these barriers and participate fully in their communities and become employed.
The first step is to contact your local DVR (http://www.dshs.wa.gov/dvr/) to verify your eligibility for services. If eligible, you can request that CARES provides further service in conjunction with the DVR. Often people are unsure of what type of job would be best for them. CARES will:
- Work with you to determine the best line of work you are suited for
- Prepare an individual assessment contract enabling you to try different jobs. This will enable you to get a better idea of which jobs best match your skills, abilities and interests
- When the assessments are complete an individual contract will be drawn up. You choose the type of work, geographical area and number of employment hours that you think are right for you
- No payment is received for the assessment period but you gain valuable information that will ensure success when employed
- CARES will assist you every step of the way to your employment path– you make the decisions but CARES will be your professional partner in doing so
