October Newsletter

October means it’s Disability Employment Awareness Month

Held each October, National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) is a time to celebrate the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities. The theme for this year – which marks 70 years since the first observance – is “My Disability is One Part of Who I Am.”

Cares of Washington is excited to take part in the 2015 NDEAM and looks to partner with organizations such as CenturyLink, Microsoft and other to help raise awareness for this undeserved population of our community.

Cares once again partners with the King County Employee Giving Program (KCEGP)

We are very excited to tell you that Cares of Washington has been accepted into the 2015 King County Employee Giving Program Annual Giving Drive!

The King County Employee Giving Program’s Annual Giving Drive is geared up and ready to start October 5th! The Cares of Washington code is 9274. Please come visit our booth at the Renton-King County Elections Building from 11am-1pm.

The Open Door Community Fund Kickoff!

The Open Door Community Fund acts as the pulse of the organization and is the vehicle by which Cares of Washington raises unrestricted funds each year to support and enhance the day-to-day work of the organization.

With strong support, Cares can advance its mission and break the cycle of poverty for Washington residents living with disabilities and/or below the poverty level. To succeed, we must call upon the support and generosity of our loyal sponsors, partners, and friends such as yourself.

Meeting the fund’s goals, both in participation and total giving, is vital every year. Unrestricted annual fund gifts not only provide a major resource for the organization and the services we provide, they also allow Cares to meet its primary goal of enabling those in need of our services to become self-sufficient.

Because needs and opportunities differ over time, it is important to have a strong participation each year to replenish this vital resource.
